Mie Prefecture has a long, narrow topography, measuring approximately 80 km from east to west and 170 km from north to south. It is divided into five regions: Hokusei (Yokkaichi and Kuwana Cities, etc.), Chunansei (Tsu and Matsusaka Cities, etc.), Ise-Shima (Ise and Shima Cities, etc.), Iga (Iga and Nabari Cities), and Higashi-Kishu (Owase and Kumano Cities, etc.). Although forests account for 64 % of the area, the eastern side faces the Pacific Ocean, and the coastline stretches for as long as 1,105 km. There are more than 60 golf courses that take advantage of the natural terrain, ranging from hilly courses looking up at the Suzuka Mountains to seaside courses overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Mie is often included in the Chubu and Tokai regions under the jurisdiction of national government ministries and agencies, but is sometimes included in Kinki region under the jurisdiction of local government agencies. Mie Prefecture is close to both Nagoya, the central city of Chubu, and Osaka, the central city of Kinki, and you can easily access the golf courses along the Meihan National Highway that connect the two by taking the Higashi-Meihan Expressway from Nagoya or the Nishi-Meihan Expressway from Osaka.
Among the golf courses in Mie Prefecture, those with good access from Nagoya City are particularly popular. Golf courses in the Hokusei region, such as those in Kuwana and Yokkaichi Cities, attract many golfers from Nagoya. Yokkaichi no Sato Golf Club is highly popular due to its outstanding location, situated only about 3 km from the Yokkaichi Interchange on the Higashi-Meihan Expressway. On the other hand, Excellent Golf Club Ichishi Onsen Course is highly rated as a resort course. It features on-site accommodations, and overnight golf trips utilizing these facilities are well-received.
