Kanagawa is located in the southwestern part of the Kanto Plain, but it is not entirely flat; mountainous areas such as Tanzawa and Hakone take up a significant area. Facing Tokyo Bay to the east and Sagami Bay to the south, the prefecture is blessed with a unique topography surrounded by sea and mountains. There are approximately 50 golf courses in the prefecture that have been developed to take advantage of this topography, and one of the prefecture's features is that many of the courses offer a resort-like atmosphere despite being close to the city center, with some overlooking the sea below and others looking up at the majestic mountains.
Golf courses in Kanagawa are easily accessible by car using the Tomei Expressway. Many golf courses are built near interchanges on the Tomei Expressway, and in recent years, access to some golf courses has improved dramatically via the route from Ebina Junction through the Ken-O Expressway. There are also several golf courses along the Odawara-Atsugi Road, which connects to the Atsugi Interchange and leads to Hakone. The train network is also well developed, with some golf courses easily accessible via the JR Tokaido Line, JR Yokohama Line, and Odakyu Line.
Night golf has become increasingly popular in recent years due to the effects of the extreme heat, and the Oatsugi Country Club Sakura Course was one of the first in Kanagawa to incorporate night golfing facilities, attracting a wide range of golfers, including young people and women. The Oatsugi Country Club Main Course, with 27 holes, is located on the adjacent premises. Both courses will be renovating and reopening their clubhouses in November 2023, allowing you to spend a fun day in a clean and stylish atmosphere.
