In the Chubu region, Aichi Prefecture has a population of approximately 7.5 million, making it the fourth largest of the 47 prefectures, and together with Gifu and Mie region, where golf is very popular, many golf courses have been developed that are easily accessible from urban areas. Golf courses are generally strategically located in the plains and hills within a day's trip from Nagoya city in Aichi. The Hokuriku region is notable for the presence of courses with attractive ocean views of the Sea of Japan.
Nagoya City, Aichi, the heart of the Chubu Centrair region, can be accessed by plane via Nagoya Airport and Chubu Centrair International Airport, by train via the Tokaido Shinkansen, or by car via the Tomei and Meishin Expressways. Many golf courses are within an hour's drive from Nagoya City, but if you want to make the most of your time, you can also choose to stay near a golf course. We recommend accessing golf courses in the Hokuriku region by Hokuriku Shinkansen or by plane (Komatsu Airport). This is a golf trip that assumes you'll stay overnight.
Many of the golf courses in the central region are spaciously laid out, and even if they are not well known nationwide, they maintain a certain level of high quality. Tiger Woods played a match play round with Shigeki Maruyama at the excellent Ise Owashi Course (Mie) in 2001, at the height of his career. Gifu Excellent Golf Club Ise Otori Course has many excellent golf courses, and Sun Classic Golf Club is highly popular as a hilly course that skillfully makes use of the natural terrain.
