Although Kanagawa Prefecture is located in the southwestern part of the Kanto Plain, it is not all flatland; mountains like Tanzawa and Hakone cover a significant area. With the Tokyo Bay to the east and Sagami Bay to the south, the region is blessed with a unique landscape surrounded by both sea and mountains. There are about 50 golf courses in the prefecture that make the most of this diverse terrain. A key feature of Kanagawa is the abundance of facilities where you can enjoy a resort-like feel—such as courses overlooking the ocean or those set against the backdrop of majestic mountains—all while staying close to central Tokyo.
Golf courses in Kanagawa Prefecture are highly accessible by car via the Tomei Expressway. Many courses are located near its interchanges, and in recent years, access to certain areas has improved dramatically thanks to the route connecting the Ebina Junction to the Ken-O Expressway. Additionally, several golf courses are situated along the Odawara-Atsugi Road, which connects to the Atsugi Interchange and leads toward the Hakone area. The train network is also well-developed; many courses offer convenient access via the JR Tokaido Line, JR Yokohama Line, and Odakyu Line.
In recent years, night golf has become increasingly popular due to the intense summer heat. Dai Atsugi Country Club Sakura Course, one of the first in Kanagawa Prefecture to introduce night lighting, has attracted strong support from a wide range of golfers, including younger players and women. Adjacent to it is the Dai Atsugi Country Club Hon (Main) Course, which boasts 27 holes. Both courses celebrated the grand reopening of their renovated clubhouses in November 2023. Guests can now enjoy a fantastic day of golf in a clean, stylish, and welcoming atmosphere.
