Yamaguchi is located at the westernmost tip of Honshu and faces Kyushu across the Kanmon Strait. It faces the Japan Sea to the north and the Seto Inland Sea to the south, with the Chugoku mountains running east to west in the center. Since major cities such as Shimonoseki City, which has the largest population, Yamaguchi City, the second largest prefectural capital, and Ube City, which has the third largest population, are located in the south, golf courses are also built mainly along the Sanyo Expressway, which runs in the southern part of the prefecture, and there are more than 30 golf courses in the prefecture.
Access to the golf courses in Yamaguchi varies depending on the course you are aiming for. If you want to go to a golf course in the western part of the prefecture from the Tokyo metropolitan area, you can go to Yamaguchi Ube Airport, and if you want to go to a golf course in the eastern part of the prefecture, you can head to Iwakuni Kintaibashi Airport and access it by car. If you are looking for a golf course around Shimonoseki, Kitakyushu Airport is also an option. From the Kansai and Kyushu directions, it is easy to access by Sanyo Shinkansen. There are five stops in the prefecture (Shin-Shimonoseki Station, Atsusa Station, Shin-Yamaguchi Station, Tokuyama Station, and Shin-Iwakuni Station).
A popular golf course in the western part of the prefecture, close to Yamaguchi Ube Airport, is Sanyo Kokusai Golf Club located about 3 km from the Hanyu Interchange on the Sanyo Expressway. It actively encourages passenger carts onto the fairways, and its casual Style of play has been well-received. Waki Golf Club, located in the eastern part of the prefecture, close to Iwakuni Kintaikyo Airport, is gaining attention. It has strengthened its course maintenance and is gaining popularity in an area accessible from western Hiroshima.
