Gunma is located in the northwestern part of the Kanto region and is the second largest prefecture in area after Tochigi. The southern part of the prefecture is flat, while the northern and western parts are higher in elevation due to the three mountains of Jomo (Myogi, Haruna, and Akagi), one of the features of this prefecture is that many resort courses are located in summer resort areas where golfers can play in cooler weather during the summer. Most of the areas are within 100 km of Tokyo, so it is of course possible to play golf on a day trip, but there are also many more golf courses with Facilities for Accommodation hot springs and other tourist resources than in other areas.
Golfers from the Tokyo metropolitan area generally use the Kanetsu Expressway when accessing golf courses in Gunma. There are many golf courses along the Kanetsu Expressway, but there are also attractive courses along the Joshinetsu Expressway, which runs west from Fujioka Junction, and the Kita-Kanto Expressway, which runs east from Takasaki Junction. To access by train, you can use the Joetsu Shinkansen and Nagano Shinkansen. Stations within Gunma that stop at are Takasaki Station, Jomo-Kogen Station, and Annaka-Haruna Station.
Gunma is home to many golf courses with Facilities for Accommodation, but Myogi Country Club is particularly popular. Myogi Greens Hotel, located next to the course, has a natural hot spring that springs from its own source, and the large Bathrooms offers a magnificent view of Mt. Myogi. Twin Lakes Country Club has an excellent reputation for its course. It hosted the Dunlop Twin Lakes Ladies Open, a women's professional golf tournament, from 1993 to 1997, and its tough 7,129-yard layout is perfect for testing the skills of advanced players.
