Oita, like other prefectures in Kyushu, has many parts facing the sea, and the coastline is about 775 km long. However, golf courses are located in the inland hills rather than the coastal areas. This is because hot springs and swimming beach, which are representative tourist resources of Oita, were located on the coast, so golf courses were inevitably built inland. More than 20 courses have been created, mainly in Oita City, the prefectural capital, where about 470,000 people live out of a population of about 1.09 million, and Beppu City and Yufu City, which are prosperous hot spring resorts.
To access the golf course in Oita, fly into Oita Airport and drive from there. Oita Airport operates regular flights to and from Tokyo (Haneda), Tokyo (Narita), Osaka (Itami), and Nagoya (Chubu). Fukuoka To access by car, you can take the Oita Expressway via the Tosu Junction on the Kyushu Expressway, or take the Higashi-Kyushu Expressway via the Kitakyushu Junction. This is recommended for those who want to enjoy golf while traveling around each prefecture in Kyushu.
Beppu Onsen is the most iconic tourist destination in Oita Prefecture. The Beppunomori Golf Club, which bears the name of Beppu, is located within 10 km of the Oita Expressway Beppu Interchange, and in addition to its capacity of 27 holes on three courses in the west, east, and south, the clubhouse, which opened in 1974, was renovated in July 2024 and has been well received. The Oita Sunny Hill Golf Club, located near Yufuin Onsen, which has the second largest number of hot springs after Beppu Onsen, is also very popular with both local golfers and tourists.
